ROAR!! - Did I Scare You?

More then likely, I could not scare a fly.  So I know my title for today's blog most certainly does not scare you.  I finally found time late yesterday to sit down and actually make a card.  It was difficult though.  The inspiration did not come for a while.  We received word that our nephew in California is doing well.  The tests show that they were able to get the entire tumor removed which is good news.  However, the pathology test showed that it was indeed cancer so chemo will be necessary.  He is a trooper though.  When he went into surgery, he took 3 stuffed lions with him.  He is the inspiration for my card today.  So let's get started.

This was the first lion I have made like this.  I saw a lion head done in a similar  way by a demonstrator named Cathy Dubreuil.   I changed it up just a little, added a body and now have my own lion.  The base card for this is done with Pacific Point card stock cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  The top layer is a piece of Whisper White measuring 4" x 5 1/4".  I used the pastels (chalk) to created the sky.  Then I took a scrap of Wild Wasabi card stock and tore strips from it.  I adhered these to the white using runner adhesive.  Using a glue pen, I added dazzling diamond glitter to the edges of the paper.  The flowers were made with Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango card stock using one of the punches from the itty bitty punch pack.  I placed a pearl in the center to give it a little more design.  They are adhered to the card using a liquid glue.  My greeting came from the stamp set "Look Who's Turning".  I stamped it using Pacific Point ink directly onto the sky.

I chose to use So Saffron and Chocolate Chip for the main colors of my lion.  The tongue is Rose Red while the muzzle is Crumb Cake.  For the eyes I used Basic Black and Whisper White.  I started by punching a 2 3/8" scallop circle for the mane.  Next I used the owl builder punch and punched the head, the eyes, the nose and the tongue.  The hair on his forehead is from the large flower of the boho blossom punch.  The muzzle is the small heart while the feet come from the heart to heart punch.  For the tail, I used the branch from the bird builder punch.  His body is the only part not from a punch.  It was cut out using my big shot and the ovals die.  It is the medium sized oval from the die.  I added white gel pen to the eyes and nose to highlight them.  The whiskers, freckles and toes were added using a fine tip black marker.  And that is how you create a lion.  He is attached to the card using dimensionals.

The inside greeting is a stamp I have had for years.  It is not from Stampin' Up! but I love to use it.  I stamped it using Pacific Point ink onto Whisper White.  I punched the corners of the white with the ticket corner punch and then brushed the edges with the Pacific Point ink.  Next I took my markers and colored in the stars with Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight.  The circle were filled with Pacific Point.  It is attached to the card using runner adhesive.

Well that's it for today.  I am certainly hoping all of you have a wonderful weekend and I am praying for a better week next week for my family.  I must admit I am exhausted!   Hopefully I can get a little rest this weekend.  So with that thought I thank you for stopping by today and I will return on Monday with another share.  Have a terrific weekend.

My Project For the Week

I must tell you this has been a very long week in my family.  I wish I could say we have been having lots of fun but I cannot. This has been the week of medical issues.  It started Sunday with my cousin's little boy breaking his arm.  Of course I found this out while sitting in the emergency room with my husband who had injured his right ankle while working a house fire.  We also found out that day that our nephew in California had been diagnosed as having a brain tumor.  He had surgery to remove it on Tuesday.  Also on Tuesday our uncle went into the hospital for the second time with a staff infection.  To top that off, our daughter came home from work Tuesday night sick with the flu.  What a week it has been and its only Thursday.

You might wonder what all this has to do with my blog.  Well I did pretty well at making my cards for the first half of the week mainly because I started them on the weekend.  I had a project of baby shower cards to work on and thought I could easily finish them be Wednesday leaving me enough time to make another card to share with you.  That did not happen.  So instead I will show you my project as it is on Wednesday night.

Can you guess what I am working on?  If you guessed baby shower invitations you would be right.  My friends and I are going to put together a very special shower for a very special friend.  So here you can see all the little pieces waiting to be put together.

Here are the cards for the carriages and butterflies.  I hope you can see from the picture the pretty shimmer on them.  I spritzed then with my shimmer paint/alcohol mixture.  Pretty pretty!

I used the beautiful butterflies embosslit to make all of these.  I will not be using all of them on my cards but I will save some to use in the future so none go to waste.

Here you can see the fun pattern on the carriages.  I added the little pearls and ribbon to decorate them.  I truly enjoy making these.  They are simple and fun.  Now I will show you the finished product.

This one should look familiar to you.  I blogged about it a few weeks ago.  That blog included all the details on how to make this one.  Therefore, I will not bore you with the details now.

I hope you can forgive the shortness of the blog.  I am truly exhausted.  Along with all the prayers I have made this week, I have also run family to the doctor appointments and run around the house caring for my husband and daughter.  I will try my best to have a new share for you tomorrow.  Please come back and see if I can come up with something.  Thanks for dropping in today!

Birthday Bug

I must tell you this has been a trying week for my family.  Here we are only at Wednesday and I have already been to several doctors with family members and have a nephew in California who has been in the hospital.  I pray the week gets better.  If you ask me what I think about 2012 so far, I would tell you it has been filled with the kinds of events you would rather avoid.

A few weeks ago, I shared a card front with you I had made with a cute little dragonfly on it.  It did start out as a card but if you recall I stamped the greeting upside down and had to add a piece to it to correct that.  So I kept it as a sample.  So the other day, I ran across a 2nd dragonfly I had made but had not added to a card.  I decided I would give a card a try again and hope for the best.  This time it all worked out.  So let me share this one with you.

I was thrilled this card worked out without my making a boo boo again.  The base card is a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  I added a layer to the front of Basic Black measuring 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" using runner adhesive to adhere it.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it to be 4" x 5 1/4".   I pulled out my pastels (chalk) and created the sky background you see on the card.  Now you can probably find designer paper at your local craft store that has a sky pattern on it.  If you don't want to make your own, I would certainly suggest looking for this.  For me, I love creating my own.

For the greeting, I used a stamp from the stamp set Curly Cute.  It is stamped using Pacific Point ink directly onto the card stock.  I did this after I had chalked the sky and placed my dragonfly.  I love the loopy loops of this stamp set!

Last but not least, we come to the star of the card - the dragonfly.  I used Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black. Whisper White and Bashful Blue card stock as well as Vellum Paper to make him.  His head is a 1" circle.  His body and wings are from the large oval punch.  His tail is made up of 1/2" circles as is his nose.  For the nose, I trimmed it to the shape I wanted.  The eyes are from the owl builder punch.  His legs come from the bird builder punch.  I added white gel pen to highlight various areas of the bug.  I added dazzling diamond glitter to the edges of the wings and dazzling details glitter glue dots to the wings.  He is attached to the card using dimensionals.  Once he was placed, I added the little pearls to the sky to give it a little jazz..

Well that finishes today's card.  I hope you all like it.  I will be back tomorrow with another item to share with you.  Thanks for dropping by today.

Another Baby Card

For some odd reason, I have been inspired to make another baby card.  Now I do know a few people who are expecting but I already have my cards for most of them.  Oh well.  I am still going to share this one with you.  I was inspired to make this one from a card that sold at my sale.  I had created a cute polka dot background and wanted to do that again.  I came across a little duck photo and thought why not make one of those.  So let me show you what I came up with for this card.

Now the entire time I was making this card I could hear Ernie from Sesame Street singing his Rubber Ducky song.  I started with a Bashful Blue base card cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  I then grabbed a scrap piece of Bashful Blue and Pacific Point card stock.  I punched out 1/2", 3/4" and 1" circles.  I then cut a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it to be 4" x 5 1/4".  I placed my punched out circles randomly on the piece of white until I was happy with how it looked.  I then adhered them down to the white using runner adhesive.

Once all my circles were adhered down, I ran the piece of white through my big shot using an impression folder called Bubbles.  It seemed to really fit the card.  As you can also see in this photo, I placed a pearl on each circle that showed.  I did this after adhering the scallop with the duck onto the card.

For my greeting, I went once again to my Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I stamped the greeting using Pacific Point ink onto Whisper White card stock.  It was then punched out using the word window punch.  I punched a modern label out of a scrap of Pacific Point card stock.  The word window was attached to the modern label using runner adhesive.  I attached it to the card using dimensionals.

To begin my duck, I took a piece of Pacific Point and ran it through my big shot using the Scallop  Circle #2 die.  I used the largest circle from this die.  After it was cut out, I ran it through the big shot using the perfect polka dots impression folder.  Once it was embossed I sprayed it using my frosted mist spray I made using 2 oz. of alcohol and drop of the frosted shimmer paint.  I keep it in a small spray bottle just for cards I want to use it on.  While it dried, I made my little duck.  His body is a 1 3/4" circle.  Using the old small oval punch, I punched out a small section of the circle leaving him with a swoop on his body.  The head is a 1 1/4" circle while the eyes are from the owl builder punch.  For his hair and beak, I started by punching a small oval using the retired punch and then repunched with it next to the hole.  That way you can get the slivers as thin or thick as you want.  His wing is from the bird builder punch.  I attached the scallop circle to the card using runner adhesive.  I then added pearls to every other scallop on the circle and to the circle dots on the white.  The duck was assembled using liquid glue and then attached to the scallop circle using dimensionals.

Tomorrow I will have something different than a baby card.  I hope all of you have a wonderful day.  Please come back tomorrow.  See you then and thanks for stopping by today.

Baby Card

When we had our garage sale earlier this month, one of the cards I sold was a baby card with a cute little hippo on it.  I loved this card because the hippo was just too cute.  So this weekend when I was catching up my inventory, I decided I wanted to make another card using this guy.  For some reason in my mind he just lends himself to baby cards so I went with that theme again.  Ready to see him?  Of course you are!

Just as cute as before.  The first card I made was on pear pizzazz and had my little hippo with a pinwheel.  This time, I decided to go with a rattle instead.  I started with a base card of Bashful Blue cut at 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  I added a layer of Whisper White cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  I ran it through the big shot using the perfect polka dots impression folder.  I adhered it to the blue using runner adhesive.  I then took out a stamp set called Something Sweet.  This set can be used with the circle treat cups if you choose but I decided I just wanted the rattle handle.  I stamped it using Bashful Blue ink onto Bashful Blue card stock.  I cut it out and set it aside.  Now I have tons of designer paper, some from Stampin' Up! and some from local craft stores.  The one I used on here is one I picked up years ago at a craft store.  I punched a 1 3/4" circle out of it.  I cut a strip of this same paper measuring 2".  I used the new Adorning Accents edgelits and cut the edge.  Next I took the coordinating Adorning Accents textured impression folder and add the embossing to it.  I attached it with runner adhesive.  I  then attached the rattle handle using the liquid glue.  The circle was added using a dimensional.  For the greeting, I turned to my favorite - the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I used my Bashful Blue marker to color each word, one at a time and stamp them.  I punched it out using the 1" square punch.  It is layered on top of a piece of blue that was punched with the postage stamp punch using runner adhesive.  The entire stamp was attached using runner adhesive to the card.  I added some rhinestones to the greeting as well as the background.

My hippo is one of the easiest punch art critters to make.  All you need is the owl builder punch, the 1 3/4" circle punch and the boho blossom punch.  I used Basic Gray, Whisper White and Basic Black card stock.   I highlighted the edges of the gray using Basic Gray ink.  The head is attached to the body using a dimensional.  I attached the entire hippo to the card using dimensionals also.  I will tell you that since the head was already raised with the dimensional attaching it to the body, I put 2 dimensionals stacked one on top of the other so it would stayed raised like I want when I attached it to the card.

Well, my yard guy is coming to spray the weeds and get rid of all of them so I had better get prepared for him to arrive.  I will be back tomorrow with another share so please come back to see what I have.  I will see you all then.  Thanks for dropping by today.

Rock N' Roll Birthday

Happy Friday everybody!!  Another week has come to an end.  This was a busy one for me so I am looking forward to some rest this weekend.  I will miss my hubby though.  He is teaching on Saturday and works on Sunday.  Oh well, guess I will spend time with my girls and my sister.

Today I wanted to share with you a birthday card I made for a friend of ours.  As my husband rattled off a list of things his friend likes, I seemed to focus in on the guitar and went from there.  So let me show you what I came up with for him.

As you can see, I tried to make the guitar pretty realistic.  For the base card, I used a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".   Next I cut a layer of Basic Black card stock to be 4" x 5 1/4".  I attached it to the white base using runner adhesive.  For the final layer, I went with Cherry Cobbler card stock cut at 3 3/4" x 5".  I stamped the birthday greeting onto it first using StazOn ink.  Next I used my Cricut machine to cut out some lightning bolts from Daffodil Delight card stock.  The name of the cartridge for this shape has escaped my mind for right now.  If I think of it as I go I will let you know.  Anyway, I attached lightning bolts onto the cherry card stock using a glue pen.  I then ran the piece through the big shot using a music note impression folder.  When I looked at it again, I noticed the greeting did not stamp all the way.  So I took my VersaMark pen and traced over the letters so I could heat emboss it using black embossing powder.  It did not turn out as clear as I would have liked but since my husband was happy with it I left it alone.  I attached the cherry piece to the black with runner adhesive.

Here you can see the guitar a little clearer.  I used the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge with my Cricut to cut the guitar out.   I cut it once in Basic Black and then again in Brushed Silver.  I trimmed pieces off the silver one to glue onto the black to give it a more finished look.  I pulled out my sewing kit and used white thread to make the guitar strings.  I did add a little adhesive to the neck of the guitar to hold the strings in place.  I put small black dots punched out using the owl builder punch on top of the strings at the head of it to make it look nicer.  I also added the lightning bolts to the guitar to give it some jazz.  Now I remember.  The lightning bolts are from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.

For the inside, I went with a simple saying.  I used my Cricut again with the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge to cut the letters.  I cut them in Basic Black first and then in Daffodil Delight.  I layered the daffodil on top of the black to create a shadow look.   I attached the letters together using a glue pen and then attached them to the inside of the card using the same glue pen.

I really liked the finished result of the card.  Of course, I would have redone the front to make the greeting look better but that is the perfectionist in me.  Always remember that the little quirks and mistakes are what give a card character and make it a one of a kind.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Please come back on Monday to see what I come up with next.  I will see you all then.  Thanks for dropping by today!

Anniversary Card for My Hubby

Welcome to Thursday's post everyone.  I am so glad you decided to drop by today.  I am happy to say I had a wonderful anniversary with my husband.  I am so blessed to have him in my life.  I wanted to share the card I made for him with you today.  I would have shared it yesterday but I was not sure if he would see my blog prior to getting the card so I chose to wait.  Anyway, let me share it with you now.

Ta Da!!!  Well what do you think?  It is so hard to come up with ideas every year for these cards.  I am always trying to top the one from the year before.  One of these days, I will realize that I don't always have to top it.  I just need to be sure to make one.  Oh well, let's get back to the card.

I started with a base card of Garden Green cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I used green because it is his favorite color.  Next I grabbed a piece of Brushed Silver card stock and cut it to be 4" x 5 1/4".  I ran it through my big shot using an impression folder called Diamond Plate.  My reason for choosing this is it reminds me of the bumper of his ladder truck at work.  I pulled out a scrap piece of Red Glimmer paper (you know the one with the glitter already on it) and using my small heart punch, I punched lots of hearts to scatter around on the front.  I attached them using glue dots after the character and greeting were attached.  The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and is stamped using Basic Black ink onto white.  I punched it out using the word window punch and layered it onto a modern label in black.

First let me apologize for the shadow on the pictures.  I had to make the card at night and was using a table lamp for light.  Guess my big head got in the way and caused a shadow.   The character I chose for this card is Roger Rabbit.  Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of my husband's favorite movies.  I first posted him on November 1, 2011.  The post is title Do You Recognize This Guy?.  If you are interested in how to make him, you will find all the punches and instructions in that post.  Therefore, I am not going to bore you again with those details.

My saying for inside my card comes from the stamp set called A Word For You.  I first ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through the big shot using a die called Ovals.  It cuts 3 sizes of ovals out.  I used the largest one and stamped my greeting onto it using black ink.  I edged it with black also so that it would stand out some.  It is adhered using runner adhesive.  Now this is not all I put inside of the card, but my special note to him was hand written and personal so this photo was done prior to my writing it.

I can't believe we are almost at Friday again.  The week has flown by.  I will have one more card to share with you tomorrow.  It is not another Mother's day card I promise.  I hope you will stop by to see what it is.  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  See you tomorrow!

Mother's Day Card #4

First and foremost, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND AND MYSELF!!!!!  Yes today is our 15th anniversary.  I am so lucky to have my wonderful husband in my life.  So today's post will be a short one so I can spend time with my guy!

I seem to be on a roll with these Mother's Day cards.  You know how it is to be on a roll with something.  So of course, today I have one more to share with you.  For this particular one, I went back to the beautiful rosettes I like to make.  Let's get going on this card.

For my color scheme, I chose to use Blushing Bride, Whisper White, and Basic Black (only for the words).  I started with a base card of Blushing Bride cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Next I cut a piece of Whisper White to be 3 3/4" x 3 3/4".  I used my ticket corner punch on the corners of this and then ran it through the big shot using an impression folder called Intricate Swirl.  I took my Blushing Bride marker and colored the tiny dots on the embossing just to add a little color.  The edges were brushed using the Blushing Bride ink.  The square was then attached using runner adhesive.

Here is a close up of the rosette.  I started with a strip of designer paper cut at 1 3/4" x 12".  I then scored it at every quarter inch.  I accordion folded the score lines and attached the ends together.  It is adhered on the back using sticky strip.  I added a 1" white circle, a 3/4" blush circle, and a 1/2" white circle.  I took a white pearl and colored it using a light pink Sharpie marker.  The rosette is attached to the white using sticky strip.  I also added some dazzling diamond glitter to the white circles on the top.

For the greeting, I turned to my Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I started with a frame from the Four Frames stamp set and stamped it in Blushing Bride on Whisper White.  Next I stamped the greeting using Basic Black ink inside the frame.  I let it sit for a few minutes so the ink would be dry.  Once it was dry, I punched it out using the decorative label punch.  I attached it using runner adhesive to the card and added another pearl colored with the same pink Sharpie.

This card had that simple elegance factor to it.  I love the look of it and know any mom out there would love to get this on Mother's Day.

Well I am off and running.  I am going to take my sister in law to a doctor appointment and then spend the rest of my day with my hubby!!  Tomorrow I will share the card I made for him for our anniversary.  Thank you so much for stopping by today.  See you tomorrow.

Mother's Day Card #3

One thing I have been very thankful for this week has been the weather.  It is so nice to be cold again.  The rain was also a welcome blessing.  Luckily for us, our garage sale went well enough last Friday and Saturday that we did not need to do it on Sunday.  We actually got to enjoy the rain and coldness.  Now I just hope the weather stays nice and does not heat up too soon.

One of the cards I sold at my garage sale had an adorable raccoon on it.  It is actually one of my favorite punch art pieces to make.  Since this card sold, I wanted to make another card with the raccoon.  So the idea came to me to do a Mother's Day card using this critter.  So let's get started.

Remember this guy?  I changed the color scheme and added a greeting this time.  I started with a base card of Pink Pirouette card stock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Next I stamped a background on the front of this card using the stamp set Confetti and VersaMark ink.  Once it was stamped, I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder so I could heat emboss it.  It just helps the design stand out a little.  Then I took a piece of Early Espresso card stock and using my Label Collection Framelits and my big shot, I cut out the size I wanted for this piece.  Next I took Baja Breeze card stock and cut out the next size smaller in the Labels Collection.  I  ran each of these labels through the big shot using the Petals-A-Plenty impression folder.  The two were then layered onto the base card using a runner adhesive.  I took the card over to my color catcher and sprayed it with a frosted white spray to add just a little shimmer.   I know you cannot really see it in the photo but it is there.  I colored the center of the flowers that were visible on the Espresso card stock as well as all the ones on the Baja using my white get pen.  I stamped the greeting using the stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes with Early Espresso ink onto Whisper White and punched it out with the word window.  I then layered it using runner adhesive onto a Baja Breeze modern label.  It is attached to the card with dimensionals.

Here is a close up of my raccoon.  He is made exactly the same way as the one I did before.  The only difference is the flowers.  I wanted to do a bouquet of flowers for him to present to mom.  I am not going to bore you with all the punch details since I listed them on the prior post. That post was on Feb. 17th so please feel free to visit it for all the details on how to make the raccoon.

For the inside greeting, I turned once again to my Word Play stamp set.  I stamped the saying in Early Espresso ink and then cut it out using the Labels Collection Framelits and my big shot.  I then brushed the edges with Baja Breeze ink.  I attached it using runner adhesive.

I know this post is a little on the short side.  I absolutely love the weather we are having here in Arizona but I tend to suffer from migraine headaches when the pressure in the air changes.  So I am going to go take my medicine and lay down so that I can create another card for tomorrow.   Thank you so much for stopping by today and I will see you tomorrow.

Daffodil Delight Wedding

A few weeks ago I shared a card with you I made for my daughter to give to a friend who is getting married.  The color scheme was black, white and silver and it had interlocking rings with flowers and pearls.  Well remember the pink Mother's Day card I made last week?  You know the one with the pink rhinestones and the butterfly?  Well, my daughter saw it and loved it so much she asked if I would remake the wedding card using a yellow (it's one of the bride's colors) and rhinestones and 2 butterflies.  So I decided to be nice mommy and said yes.  My card share for today is the final result of that card.  Are you ready?  Let's get started.

Ta Da!!  Isn't it pretty?  Just like a ray of sunshine!  I started with a base card of Daffodil Delight cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Next I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it to be 4" x 5 1/4".  I ran it through the big shot using the Elegant Lines impression folder and using the same method as last time (do not use a numbered tab just use the bottom panel).  Attach this panel using runner adhesive.  Let me show you a close up of the greeting which will also show you the rhinestones.

The greeting for this card came from a stamp set called Wedding Sweet.  I stamped it onto Whisper White card stock using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using black embossing powder.  Once it cooled, I punched it out using the word window punch.  I then punched a modern label out of a scrap of Daffodil Delight.  I layered the two together using runner adhesive and attached it to the card using dimensionals.  For the rhinestones on this one, I wanted to use colored stones again.  Unlike last week when I had the pink ones on hand, this time I did not have any yellow.  So I knew that meant if I wanted a yellow stone, I would have to make it.  To do this, I took a spare piece of plastic and put the number of stones in the various sizes on it.  I think I used about 17 of them.  Next I took out my alcohol ink called Butterscotch.  I put just a few drop onto a cotton ball and then pounced gently on the stones with it.  I added a little more ink to the cotton and pounced a little more until the color was just right.  The nice thing about this ink is it dries fast.  Using my paper piercer I picked the stones up one by one and placed them into the little circles on the impressed design just like last week.

Having the greeting and the stones finished meant it was time to make those gorgeous butterflies once again.  I used the same method as last week.  Take the big shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die and cut out one large and one small butterfly in Daffodil Delight.  Repeat this using vellum paper for the second set.  Layer the two together and attach using a glue pen.  I cannot remember if I put this in the past blog or not but you only put the glue along the path of the body.  The wings are free this way and you will be able to cover the glue up with the pearls.  This time I needed yellow pearls.  So out came my yellow Sharpie marker and I colored 5 of the white pearls, 3 for the large butterfly and 2 for the small butterfly.  Once they were dry, I used my paper piercing tool again to help me place them.  Next comes the Stickles glitter glue.  Add dots all over your butterfly wings and you are finished!

I must tell you my daughter was thrilled with the end result.  It looks absolutely fantastic.  I truly hope the bride likes it.

That finishes my blog for this Monday.  I hope you all are off to a nice start of a new week.  Please come by tomorrow to see what I come up with next.  Until then, happy creating and thanks for dropping by today!!

Mother's Day Card #2

Happy Friday everyone.  Well it is the first day of our garage sale.  I sure hope it goes well.  We have worked hard this week getting everything ready for it.  I thought I would send you off into your weekend with another card for mom.  It always seems strange to start cards months ahead of time but we all know that time creeps up on us and if we're not careful, we are not ready for them.  Anyway, let's get going on this one.

Today's color scheme is purple.  I decided to make this card a little different that most of my others.  I started with a base card of Perfect Plum cut at 5" x 10", scored at 5".  Every now and then, I come up with a card that either needs a little more room or that I think would look better as a square.  This was one that needed the extra room but that also lends itself to the square shape.  Instead of adding a solid layer I wanted to do a pattern with squares.  I started by punching 9 Very Vanilla 1 3/8" squares.  I spaced them out on the card front and adhered them down using runner adhesive.  Next I punched out 9 Elegant Eggplant 1 1/4" squares.  I layered these on top of the vanilla ones and adhered them down using runner adhesive.  For the top layer of my squares, I wanted to use a designer paper.  I wish I could say this one was from Stampin' Up! but I can't.  This paper came as a mat stack from one of my local craft stores.  I bought it a few years ago and still have some.  The colors really complemented the plum and eggplant.  So I chose 3 different designs and punched out three 1" squares of each.  I then layered them on top of the eggplant squares in a random pattern using runner adhesive.  Now I wanted some glitter on my squares but this paper did not come already glittered.  So I used a glue pen to add glue to a few areas and sprinkled Dazzling Diamond glitter on them.  I love the sparkle!!  While this was drying, I moved on to the greeting.

For the greeting on the front, I used the retired stamp set called Well Scripted.  I stamped the saying using Perfect Plum ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.  I then took out my big shot and the new Labels Collection Framelits set.   I used the smallest size and cut out the saying.  Then I cut the next size up out of plum and one more size up out of vanilla.  I edged the saying with Perfect Plum ink and layered it on the plum.  Then I layered that onto the large vanilla label.  I attached all these together using runner adhesive. I added Dazzling Diamond glitter dots to the plum and edges the vanilla with it also.  It is attached to the card using dimensionals.  I took the Beautiful Butterflies die and the big shot and cut a small butterfly out of Perfect Plum card stock and vellum paper.  I layered these together using a glue pen.  Next I attached it to the card with glue dots.  Then I got out 2 white pearls and colored them purple using a Sharpie markers.  These made up the body of the butterfly.  I then added Stickles glitter glue dots to the wings for added effect.

For my inside greeting, I used a stamp from the set Word Play.  I stamped it using Perfect Plum ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.  I then used the same Labels Collection Framelits set and my big shot to cut out the greeting.  This carried the theme from the front to the inside.  I edged it using plum ink and attached it with runner adhesive.

Well that's it for this week.  I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.  I will be back on Monday with another share.  I hope you will all come back to see it.  Thanks for stopping by today and I will see you Monday!!

Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day falls on May 13th this year, 2 months away.  Even though my mom is not here any more, I still like to make her a card and make one for my wonderful mother in law.  So after I finished all my Easter owls, I decided to work on a couple of cards for that special day.

Since I always loved the color pink on my mom, I decided to start with the pink card.  I used Rose Red card stock.  This is a deep pink card stock.  I cut it at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 4" x 5 1/4".  I ran it through my big shot using the Elegant Lines impression folder from Stampin' Up!.  I really like this folder but I will admit I have not used it much.  You usually make your sandwich of the cutting pads and the folder and use tab 1 on the multipurpose platform to run it through.  Well every time I would do that, my card stock would come out having areas that were cut through entirely or area that would tear easily.  I was very frustrated.  Then I learn a secret.  If you run this particular folder through using the multipurpose platform set on the no numbered tab, I gives you the chance to have the impression without the cuts and tears.  I attached this piece to my Rose Red card using runner adhesive.  This particular impression folder has these cute little circles on it so I thought little rhinestones would look cute in them.  I happen to have pink colored stones that worked perfectly.

Here you can see the circles and stones better.  When it came to my greeting, I turned yet again to my Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I stamped it using Rose Red ink and punched it out using the word window punch.  I then punched out a modern label from Rose Red card stock.  I layered the two together using runner adhesive and attached it to the card using dimensionals.  I chose not to put rhinestones on this because I did not want to distract from the card.

Here is the beautiful butterfly.  I cut this using the Beautiful Butterflies die for the big shot.  I cut one out of vellum paper and one out of Rose Red.  I layered these two together using a glue pen and attached them to the card using glue dots.  As you can see, I needed pearls for the body that were colored so I once again turned to my Sharpies for help.  I took three white pearls and used a delicate pink marker to color them.  I always let them sit for a minute or two just to be sure they are dry and then placed them on the butterfly.  I then added some Stickles glitter glue dots to the wings for added color.

This is a very simple card but I love the look.  This would have been one my mom would have really liked.  I will share another card for this day with you tomorrow.  Please come back to visit.  Until then, thanks for dropping in today!!

Easter Sets

Monday I shared with you a cute little Easter card I made during my crop this past Saturday.  As I was putting it away, I thought why not make little sets of the punch art to sell this weekend.  We are having a garage sale and I do plan on putting my cards out for people to buy if they would like to.  So my share today is simply the set I made.  I have been so busy with them that this will probably be a short blog.

Here you can see my stash of punched pieces that would be used to create the little critters.  I used the blossom petal builder, owl builder, and the 1 3/4" scallop circle punches to make all these characters.  I like to mass produce items so it makes a lot of sense to me to punch all the pieces first and then trim and assemble.

These are my completed sets.  I always attach my punch art to card stock, usually Sahara Sand.  I use re-positional adhesive called Dotto to do this.  By using this, you can easily remove the characters from the card stock.  The Dotto can actually be rubbed off using an adhesive eraser or you finger allowing you to use a permanent adhesive to attach it to a card or project.  Once they are on the card, I place it in a plastic sleeve and seal it by attaching a top note folded in half over the top and using staples to adhere it.  I then put a pretty daisy flower on one side of it.

As you can see I made 3 bunnies and one chick to include in each set.   I think these are just adorable.  I love the versatility of the owl punch.  If you like punch art and do not have this punch you are really missing out.  There is just so much you can do with it.  The possibilities are endless.

Okay I know this is really short but it is late and I have lots to do to get ready for our garage sale.  I promise I do have cards to share the rest of the week.  So I will return tomorrow with a lovely card for you to see.  Thanks for stopping by today and please come back!!

Colorful Pearls

Hi everyone.  I thought I would share with you another card I made this past weekend at my crop.  When we were making our cute little butterfly, we used the Beautiful Butterflies die for the big shot to make the wings.  If you have this die, you know there is a full large butterfly, a full small butterfly, a large individual wing and a small individual wing.  Since I knew I would use only the individual wings for the project, I could have just cut out those.  However, I knew I would eventually use the complete butterflies too so I used a piece of vellum paper large enough to cut all pieces.  This particular card utilizes one large and one small left over vellum butterfly.

I chose the color scheme for this card from the scraps of card stock I had left from my class.  The stack was just sitting beside me so I thought why not put the extras to work.  The colors I chose are Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, and Wild Wasabi.  I started with a base are of Whisper White base card cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I then took a scrap piece of the tangerine and the daffodil and punched out 1",  3/4" and 1/2" circles.  I cut a piece of wasabi to be 4" x 5 1/4".  I scattered the circles on the top of it until I liked how they looked.  Once I was happy with the look, I attached them using runner adhesive.

Once all the circles were attached, I ran the piece of wasabi through the big shot using an impression folder with music notes all over.  I wanted you to really get to see them so I thought I would show you this close up.  This particular impression folder is from a company called The Paper Studio.  I picked it up at a local craft store.  As you can hopefully see, by running the piece of wasabi with the circles attached through the big shot, you get the appearance of it being just one piece of card stock instead of separate pieces.  I like this effect very much.

This is a close up of my large butterfly.

Here is a close up of the small butterfly.

To make these adorable butterflies, I started by running a scrap piece of tangerine and a scrap of daffodil through the big shot using the Beautiful Butterflies die.  Once they were cut out, I layered a vellum butterfly on top of them using a glue pen to attach the two together.  The butterflies were then attached to the card using glue dots.  I turned to my trusty Stickles glitter glue to add dots to the wings of the butterflies to jazz them up and make them sparkle.  I thought about adding glitter glue dots to the center for the body but wanted something a little different.  This is where the colored pearls come into play.  Now if you go to your local craft store, you can usually find white or black pearls pretty easily.  However, I have never found any really colorful pearls.  So I made my own.  That's right, I created these colors all by myself.  Want to know how?  Okay I will tell you my secret.  Start with white pearls.  I usually separate however many I need away from the rest of the white one.  You want to keep them on the plastic they come on so you can remove them easily once they are colored.  I tend to save my plastic sheets once all the gems have been used.  Once you have the number of pearls you will need (in this case, I wanted 2 for the yellow and 3 for the orange), put them on an empty plastic sheet or on an area of the sheet where they do not touch the rest.  Space them apart far enough so you can get to all sides.  Now all you need is a set of Sharpie markers.  That's right - Sharpie marker.  You simply color your pearls using your markers and ta-da -- instant colored pearls.  I have tried other ways of coloring my pearls but found that either the color came off or it was really dull looking.  With the Sharpies, you get a vibrant color that dries extremely quickly and does not wipe off at all!!  Absolutely easy to do and beautiful to look at.

I hope you will give colored pearls a try.  It is nice to be able to customize them for your projects.  It just gives that added pizzazz you are looking for.  Well, that's all I have for today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new project.  I will admit, I don't have it made yet but I will get to work as soon as I can.  Maybe I will color some more pearls!

Thanks for dropping by today and I will see you all tomorrow!

It's Easter Time!

Hey everyone.  Happy Monday.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I want to thank all of you who attended my punch class and/or crop this past Saturday.  We had a lot of fun and made some really neat things.  I taught 4 spring critters - a bunny, a duck, a dragonfly, and a butterfly.  Everyone seems to enjoy learning how to make them.  As always, my mind goes a mile a minute as I am teaching and I seem to always get inspired to make another card.  So the one I am going to share with you today is one I thought of as my students were making one of the critters.  It involved using the owl builder punch.  This card just popped into my head as I was looking at the punch.  Ready to start?

I started by using Daffodil Delight card stock to make my base card.  It is cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I then took a piece of  Whisper White card stock and cut it to be 4" x 5 1/4".  Using my pastels (chalks) I created a sky background.  Then I grabbed a scrap piece of Wild Wasabi card stock and tore pieces off.  I attached them to the sky background using runner adhesive.  I then attached the white to the daffodil using the same adhesive.  Using a glue pen, I added glue to the edges of the "grass" and sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamond glitter.  I love the sparkle.  I turned to my handy Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set for the greeting on this one.  I stamped it using Melon Mambo ink onto white card stock and punched it out using the retired small oval punch.  I then punched a large oval out of Basic Black card stock and layered the white onto it with adhesive.  Finally, I used a scrap of Melon Mambo card stock and punched a scallop oval to make the bottom layer of the greeting.  Once it was finished, I took some pink rhinestones I had and added one to each side of the greeting.   It is attached to the card using dimensionals.  Now let's see how the animals are made.

Here is my cute little chick.  The body, eyes, and beak come from the owl builder punch.  I used Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock for this little guy.  To make his hair, I turned to the Boho Blossom punch and used the 6 petal flower from it.  Only 3 of the petals stick up for you to see.  For the wings, I punched a 1 3/4" scallop circle and cut it in half.  I then cut the half in half again and trimmed off the scallop piece I cut in half to do this.  Add a piece to each side and there you have him.  I added some white gel pen to highlight his various features and give him a little character.  I attached him to the card using dimensionals.

For the bunny, I used the owl builder punch once again for the body and eyes.  I then punched the nose using the circle from the itty bitty punch pack.  His ears are made using petals from the blossom petals builder punch.  I used  Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock for his color scheme.  I added white gel pen to highlight his features and drew on whiskers using a fine tip black marker.  You could also draw a mouth on this guy if you would like to.  He is also attached to the card with dimensionals.

I wanted to add an Easter Basket to this card so I decided to start by punching a white tag using the  large tag punch (it use to be called the small tag in past catalogs).  I cut the tag in half so my basket would look like a basket and ran it through the big shot using the square lattice impression folder.  I then punched a small oval using the retired small oval punch.  I took the  large oval punch and punched it around the hole of the small on creating the handle for the basket.  Now my basket would not be complete without some eggs so I had to make some.  I started with a strip of silver glimmer card stock.  I took my Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Marina Mist, and Wild Wasabi ink pads and using my sponges I colored the silver card stock.  Next, I turned it upside down and drew freehand my eggs (that's why they all look different).  Once drawn, I cut them apart and attached the basket and eggs to the card using a liquid glue.  I love love love the sparkle on this card.

Well, that's all I have for today.  I hope you are inspired to make a card of your own with lots of sparkle.  I will be back tomorrow with another card to share.  Until then, thanks for dropping by today!

Butterflies In The Window

Once again here we are at the end of a week.  I cannot believe it is Friday.  The weather here in Phoenix has be crazy this week.  We went from the mid 80's to the low 60's and back into the 70's.  I just wish we could get some rain.  We had lots and lots of wind this week which gave everyone sinus problems.  I certainly hope it will stabilize in the coming week so everyone will feel better.

Today's share is another stain glass creation.  It is the last one for the week and I am hoping to share more punch art next week.  The stamp I used for the main image is not one from Stampin' Up! but most of my stain glass stamps come from a different company.  Most of them I have had for years - much longer than I have been a SU! demonstrator.  Anyway, let's get started on today's card.

I started with a base card of Whisper White cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  I then added a layer of Perfect Plum measuring 4" x 5 1/4".  Before attaching it to the white, I did sponge the edges with Perfect Plum ink.  It is attached using runner adhesive.  Next I cut a piece of Pretty In Pink to be 3 3/4" x 3 3/4".  I ran it through the big shot using the Manhattan Flower impression folder.  Next I brushed the edges of it using a sponge with Regal Rose ink.  I also attached the white strip at the bottom of the pink using runner adhesive and then attached the whole thing to the plum piece with runner adhesive.  I scalloped the edge of the white prior to attaching it to the pink.

To make the scallop along the edge of the white strip, I first used the new Adorning Accents Edgelits that work with the big shot.  They are simply a strip that you lay across your card stock and run it through your big shot using tab 2.  It cut the pretty scallop shape you see on this card.  To emboss the scallop and add a little texture I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders that coordinate with the edgelits.  All of these are in the Occasions Mini catalog.  I took another piece of white and stamped my greeting using Perfect Plum ink.  I got my greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I punched it out using the word window punch and sponged the edges of it with the plum ink.  I then layered it on top of a Pretty in Pink modern label (you use the modern label punch for that but I bet you already knew that).  I attached it to the card using dimensionals and added pearls to the ends.

Here is a close up of the butterflies.  Now I am not going to bore you again on how to do stain glass.  You can visit one of the other samples to get the instructions if you need.  Once my glitter had dried, I realized the top butterfly was very light and would need to be backed on a color that would help it stand out.  So I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and used my pastels to create a sky scene on it.  Once the sky was finished, I attached my butterfly window to it using glue dots.  I then cut it out so that no sky showed around the image.  I know it might be hard to see but you can see the blue of the sky behind the panes of the window.  I attached the entire window to the pink using runner adhesive.

For me, this has been a really fun week.  I love working with glitter! I hope you enjoyed some of the creations you saw on here.  I wish you all a wonderful weekend filled with fun.  I will be back Monday with another card to share.  Until then. thanks for dropping by today!!
